Dynamics Appear in the Medway Messenger!!! Saturday 19 July 2008 [13:10hrs]
On Friday 18th July, the Meday Messenger printed the following article about the team.
Dynamics on the lookout for talent
1st edition Friday 18 July 2008
INVICTA Dynamics Ladies are on the lookout for new ice hockey players.
The team play in the British Women's League, Division 1 South along with Streatham B, Chelmsford, Bracknell B, Basingstoke Bison Ladies and Basingstoke Bears. The team, managed by Karen Thompson, also take part in the British Women's Tournament in Swindon.
The squad, which is made up of 19 players ranging from ages 16 to 40, finished fifth in the league last time round.
This season, the team is expected to lose around six players due to career changes and people going to university.
Player Amanda Grout said: "Our manager is trying to get extra ice time during the summer. I would encourage anyone who wants to have a go to come and try it. We want to encourage new or existing players."
The club is sponsored by Anchor Seafry, a fish and chip shop based in Lordswood.
Ladies ice hockey is a non-contact sport and Grout is confident of filling the squad's vacant places.
She added: "I've been playing for four years. Before that I didn't live near a rink. All abilities from complete beginners are welcome.
"Even if you can skate and just about stop, you'll still get to play games. It is very fairly run. Ice hockey is a fantastic sport which is great fun to play."
End of Season & Presentatioin Night Wednesday 02 July 2008 [23:20hrs]
Well that's the end of another season and we came 5th in the table (two places higher than last year).
On Saturday 28th June, we had our presenation night at The Black Lion Pub and below is the list of awards:
Player's Player - Karen Thompson
Player of the Year - Tammy Phipps
110% Committment - Tammy Phipps
Most Coachable - Ruth Littlewood
Most Improved - Jenny Frost
Defender of the Year - Beth Gemson
Rookie of the Year - Dawn McNeal
Clubman of the Year - Amanda Grout
Most Points - Kate Hancock
Next season we are saying goodbye to a few players due to work and university. (An official announcement will be made at a later date.) Due to this loss of talent, we have openings on our roster for new players.
We would also like to encourage anyone wishing to try the sport to come to a training session (first two are free). We only require the basic command of skating - forwards, backwards and stopping, and our coaches teach you the rest. Protective equipment can be borrowed from the club.
